At first Stefan Salvatore reminded me of Edward
Cullen. After a few episodes I got over it. Stefan Salvatore is a kind-hearted good hero
material. I didn’t particularly like him first but then slowly grew fond of
him. He loves his brother Damon Salvatore more than anything. No matter what Damon did he
always forgives him, may be because of the guilt that Stefan was the one who
turned Damon into a vampire even against his will.
He isn’t always a good guy or anything, we
learn that in the past he had done a lot of terrible things and all but it’s
his desire to change himself to a good person and to stay good is what makes
him special. He isn’t a good person because of Katherine or Elena or even Lexi.
He tries to do good because he knows that is right. He tries constantly to make
up for his past mistakes. Katherine did wrong both brothers, but Damon chose to
do bad things and blame her for making him like that. Stefan figured out he was
under compulsion and his feelings were not real and chose to move on, all on
his own, not for any girl. Now that is a person with a healthy mind.
As for Elena, he always let her make her on
decisions, never forced anything on her. Even when he realizes that his brother
is trying to win her, he trusts her and never forbids her from interacting with
his brother. He believes that if their love is true, no one can take it away
from them, not even his brother. Also, he
is a very good friend to Caroline and Bonnie. When he saw the girls really
misses each other he even plans a girls night for them, I can’t ever imagine
Damon doing that.
Even when Elena turned to a vampire, he tries
to find the cure because he knows that she hates being that and she can’t live
with herself if she harmed anyone. Not because he saw her as a broken toy, not
because he didn’t want her to be a vampire. The season 1 Elena used to get
that. I was hurt when Elena betrayed him, not because she chose Damon over him
but to see him hurting when he really didn’t do anything wrong.
I liked him when he told Elena she
doesn’t know him when he isn’t in love with her. CLAPS!!! I liked that he
offered to leave town if Elena chooses Damon, not to stay around and sabotage
their relationship like Damon did. I liked that he expressed his hurt and anger
in her betrayal not begging her to take him back. Overall he was a stand-up guy.
From season 4 onwards, I don’t think they did
any justice to this character. He got pulled into the back seat while Delena
took over the show. I always felt it was his story, maybe because he started
the narrative on the very first episode or because he was the hero for the
solid first three seasons which were the best seasons of the show.
